Who We Are

Ergon was established in Delhi in 2006 and has had a handicraft center running there ever since.  In 2010, we expanded by opening a center in Jaipur, the city where all of our handmade paper is made.  Currently, the center in Delhi is producing products for sale in India only, and the Jaipur center is making products for export.  In Jaipur, we have six employees in Jaipur, six precious ladies who are working hard to improve their life.  Get to know them here!

Meet Asma.  She is 22 years old and lives in a slum in North India with her husband, two children, and her husbands family.  Asma does all of the housework for her family.  Her day begins at 5 a.m. with cleaning, cooking, and hand washing clothes for the family.  Asma only leaves her house when she comes to work at Ergon.  Her humbleness and gentleness are evidence as she continuously assists and teaches others.  Asma is hardworking and takes pride in making cards and journals.  As a mother, she is loving and caring, and her children bring much joy and laughter to the center.  Through your purchase of this product, Ergon is able to provide a job and income to Asma and women like her.

Meet Nunni.  She is 48 years old and lives in a slum in North india with her children and four grandchildren.  Before Nunni began working for Ergon, her son was the sole provider for her family.  She is dedicated to her role as mother and grandmother.  Nunni loves working at Ergon and making cards and journals.  She also sews and enjoys making clothes for her family.  Despite a serious exterior, Nunni loves to laugh and is quick witted.  She keeps the ladies at the center on their toes!  With so many mouths to feed at home, the money Nunni makes from Ergon helps to provide healthier meals for her family.  Through your purchase of this product, Ergon is able to provide a job and income to Nunni and women like her.

Meet Mary.  She is 48 years old and lives in a slum in North India with her husband and son.  Mary is dedicated to spending time with the other ladies in her neighborhood, serving, counseling and loving them.  She and her husband, Joseph, lead a weekly Bible school for neighbor children.  Along with making cards and journals, Mary serves at the center by cleaning, providing clean water, and leading in a time of morning devotion.  Her joyful spirit, sense of humor, and love of singing make her a favorite among the ladies.  Your purchase of this product enables Ergon to provide a job and income to Mary and women like her.

Meet Salma.  She is 35 years old and lives in a slum in North India with her husband and 17 year old daughter.  Salma has a quiet spirit but it doesn't take much to send her into fits of giggles.  She is a tiny lady but carries a bit load at home, doing all the housework for her family.  Salma did not have a stable income before working for Ergon.  Now she is able to contribute to her family's expenses by making Ergon products.  Through your purchase of this product Ergon is able to provide a job and stable income to Salma and women like her.
